We had an amazing CD Release at Secret Society AND have performed several live shows in promotion of the new album. It has been pretty thrilling to see our song baby (the album) be released to the world. Fly, little baby, fly! (I guess I decided the album was a baby bird).

If finishing the album, doing our cd release, and live performance weren’t enough. The past several weeks have been a time of immense creativity. A lot of writing. A lot of new stuff. New sounds, new subject matter, with signature Her Ghost melodies and textures. Cannot wait for you to hear what’s coming up…

Writing with Todd and playing with such amazing musicians is truly a thrill. I feel like a kid in a candy store a lot these days.

“Her Ghost,” a new 4-piece rock band from Portland, OR who have been described as Kate Bush “ethereal” meets Beatles pop, launch their music video on their new website today in preparation for the release of their self-titled debut album on August 17th at Secret Society at 9pm in NE Portland.

Their new “Bus Stop Betty” music video exhibits the group’s sound and performance style, featuring lead singer (and Uma Thurman look alike), Danielle Ross, in a throwback 50s setting. The video also features local actors and dancers, and is the product of many accomplished artists in the Portland community, including: Directing/Producing team Carl & Sharon Jameson (“The Bicyclist” series), choreographer Tere Mathern (Conduit Dance), and Mike Barber (creator of the critically-acclaimed dance movement, “Ten Tiny Dances”). The video is a taste of what people will experience at Her Ghost’s CD Release Event, which features the 4-piece band, as well as opener Patti King, and other special guests. Her Ghost’s debut self-titled album is unique in that it features only its original collaborators, Singer/Songwriter, Danielle Ross, and Arranger/Producer Todd Bayles. Danielle sings lead and harmony vocals on the album, and Todd plays 18 instruments. The album was written, recorded, and produced in Portland, and it was mixed by Patrick Brewer (Dorado, Jacob Merlin, Blue Iris) and mastered by Ryan Foster Mastering (Storm Large, Lifesavas, Amelia).

Making the video for our first album single, “Bus Stop Betty,” was an amazing experience. We got to work with some of the best of Portland: Directing & Producing team Carl and Sharon Jameson, Choreographer Tere Mathern, incredible dancers from Conduit Dance, a team of actors, and specialists filming, doing set design, wardrobe, makeup…this was the real deal!

This video will be out for public viewing TOMORROW, and we think it is a great way to kick off the final weeks leading up to our CD Release. We are so excited for you to see this video!
